Wall Street Journal x2 and "Chris Rufo Wears a Suit"
Roundup for this week
Not too much to report, mostly because this covers the holiday week of U.S. Thanksgiving, which is notoriously a slow news week (much to everyone’s relief, to be honest). But we have a few tidbits, including alumni Aaron Hillegass’ thoughtful and compelling commentary being reduced to a meme by WSJ…what else do we expect?
Collected with commentary by :
Wall Street Journal: Christopher Rufo Has Trump’s Ear and Wants to End DEI for Good. This piece set off a cascade of follow-up stories this week — Bloomberg, TNR, etc. Quotes Aaron Hillegass, gives him the final word....
…If you missed Aaron’s post on the Daimon, he actually had a lot more to say in his full response to the writer. In his own words: “I will be quoted saying something inane like "Chris Rufo wears a suit." I sent the writer the attached notes and invited him to take what he wanted from them. I also talked with him on the phone. He took the suit quote.”
Tampa Bay Times: Will Trump take Christopher Rufo’s conservative Florida vision nationwide? One of the better follow-ups, tying together a few different recent stories.
Not ‘news’ per se but the Novo Collegian Alliance is holding a #GivingTuesday fundraising campaign on December 3rd, so please consider supporting their work!
Also worth a look…
WSJ: ‘Martin Van Buren’ Review: The Maker of Modern Politics. Odd timing, but NCF Associate Prof. Adam Rowe just penned a book review four days after the Rufo piece.
Sarasota Herald-Tribune: New College of Florida, Sarasota schools are moving in positive directions | Letters Alum Corey Stevens generally approves of goings on.
Claire Potter’s Substack: And This Year, The Turkeys Are.... “Tenured Radical” awards NCF a turkey for, uh, DeSantis and Rufo reducing it to a smoldering ruin. Hmm.
…and in NCF Sports News
